Lynchburg new director of cross country and track and field is anything but a new face to the program. Doug Thomasey '05 was named Wednesday to replace legendary mentor Dr. Jack Toms and will over-see all six highly successful Hornet programs.

The postseason awards continued to roll in for a pair of the conferences most successful spring athletes as the ODAC track & field coaches voted on their sports top athletes of the 2010 campaign. Bridgewater senior Courtney Hartman and fellow senior Ricky Flynn from Lynchburg were named the 2010 ODAC Mens and Womens Track & Field Athletes of the Year.

Six student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2010 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the winter athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.

Just three days after leading his Lynchburg outdoor mens track & field team to the 2010 ODAC Championship and earning conference Coach of the Year honors, head mens cross country and track and field coach Dr. Jack Toms announced his retirement Tuesday from coaching, effective at the end of the season. He will remain as the director of athletics at the school.

Bridgewater's Courtney Hartman and Roanoke's Robin Yerkes headlined a good showing for the ODAC at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoo Track Championships by earning All-American honors for their performances. Hartman got the nod in the pentathlon while Yerkes picked up another in 400-meter dash.

Lynchburg College and Roanoke College brought home the crowns on Friday evening in the 2010 ODAC Mens and Womens Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Hornets earned 193 total points for the mens title, while the Maroons accumulated 139 total points for the womens championship.
