The Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team fell behind early to Stevenson University in the first quarter of the NCAA Division III Lacrosse Quarterfinals, ultimately dropping a 13-7 decision.

First-year attackman Brady Dashiell (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) scored the first two goals of the game as the 12th-ranked Seagulls built an early 4-0 lead en route to a 7-4 win over eighth-ranked Washington and Lee in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

The #13-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team twice erased one-goal deficits in the second half for a 12-9 road victory over #7 Roanoke College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday night.

Lynchburg defenseman and 2012 ODAC Player of the Year, Joe Lisicky, leads a long list of ODAC athletes earning All-America recognition from the USILA. Lisicky earned a spot on the All-America First Team, while three others earned second team honors and one on third team. Nine ODAC athletes were slotted to the honorable mention team.

Chip Phillips won 14 of his 20 face-off attempts Saturday evening to help the eighth-ranked Denison University men's lacrosse team defeat third-ranked Lynchburg College, 10-5, in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament on Shellenberger Field. The Hornets season ends with a 17-2 overall record.

Just hours after defeating Washington and Lee University, 10-4, in the ODAC title game, Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse learned its position in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Hornets, ranked third in the latest USILA (http://www.usila.org) poll, earned one of four byes into the second round.

William "Mic" Grant is Bridgewater College's first head coach for men's lacrosse, following a Thursday announcement by college president George Cornelius and director of athletics Curt Kendall. Grant comes to Bridgewater after a excellent stint as the head coach of the Marywood University Pacers. Click for a full story as well as video of the press conference.

The USILA announced the 2011 NCAA Division III All-American teams, and 12 ODAC student-athletes earned recognition. Lynchburg College and Roanoke College placed four apiece amongst the second, third and honorable mention lists. Hampden-Sydney College boasts three award winners, while Washington and Lee University garners the final honor.

Top-ranked Salisbury University scored four goals in the first period and never looked back as the Seagulls defeated Roanoke College, 16-7, in the NCAA Division III Semifinals at Sea Gull Stadium Sunday afternoon. In a rematch of the 2010 title game, Salisbury moves on to face Tufts for the 2011 title at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.



2009-10 ODAC Men's Lacrosse News

Roanoke's Sam Love was the recipient of the 2010 William C. Stiles Memorial Award announced by the USILA this week. It is given to the nation’s most outstanding defensive player in NCAA Div. III. His brother, Ben Love ’06 earned this honor as a senior following the 2006 season. Love also joins three other Maroons as winners of the Stiles Award.

Guilford Director of Athletics Tom Palombo announced the appointment of Tom Carmean as the school’s head men’s lacrosse coach Tuesday. Carmean, the 12th head men’s lacrosse coach in school history, replaces Andrew Rowe, who resigned in April after six seasons. Carmean spent the last 11 year's as the head coach at Amherst College

The USILA announced its annual NCAA Division III All-American teams, and 13 ODAC student-athletes earned recognition (including first teamer Sam Love, above). Roanoke placed eight amongst the three teams and honorable mention lists. Hampden-Sydney and Lynchburg each boast a pair of award winners, and Washington and Lee garnered the final honor.



2008-09 ODAC Men's Lacrosse News

The ODAC placed 12 student-athletes on the USILA All-American Teams. Roanoke led the way with six honorees including the lone ODAC first teamer in attackman Zach Thomas.

Roanoke fell behind 8-2 at the half and never held a lead in a 14-7 loss to Denison in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The loss ends the Maroons' season at 17-2.

Josh Reichert scored a career-high five goals and fifth-ranked Gettysburg jumped out to a 7-2 lead en route to posting a 15-10 victory over sixth-ranked Washington and Lee in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.



2007-08 ODAC Men's Lacrosse News

The Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team received a first-round bye in the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and will travel to Chestertown, MD, this weekend to battle Washington College. The contest will be held on Sunday, May 11, at 1:30 pm.

Washington and Lee University, Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Wesleyan College will join top-seeded Lynchburg College in the 2008 ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

Lynchburg College goalkeeper Garrett Curran added a little more fuel to an already exciting Hornets’ campaign by earning the ODAC men’s lacrosse Player of the Year award as well as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Virginia Wesleyan College mentor J.P. Stewart was named the Coach of the Year, and Roanoke College attack Matt Quinton was tabbed the Rookie of the Year.

Roanoke College senior Jon Mason and his coach Bill Pilat have been recognized as the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) State Player and Coach of the Year as the organization announced its All-State Men’s Lacrosse Teams Friday afternoon.

With 17 saves Saturday versus arch-rival Hampden-Sydney College in his final collegiate game, Randolph-Macon College’s Brian Vierheller broke the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse career saves record.

The WildCat Athletic Department took the first step towards starting a men’s lacrosse program today as it announced the hiring of Scott Ketcham, a former all-American at Hampden-Sydney College, as the team’s inaugural head coach.
