KELSEY RUITENBERG, Roanoke, Senior - Pitcher/1B

Ruitenberg, a senior from Geneva, Ill., recorded a 0.37 earned run average in three starts last week.  She went at least six innings in each of her three outings, recording a pair of wins.  She fanned 15 batters in 19 innings of work, allowing just six hits and one earned run.  She went the distance against both Meredith and UVA-Wise, recording a shutout in the latter contest.  She also had a solid week at the dish, going 8-for-20 with three homers and nine runs batted in. 

Softball Pitcher Honor Roll

Nicole Wade, Eastern Mennonite, Senior
Wade went the distance in EMU's season opener against McDaniel, picking up the win in a 4-2 contest.  Wade allowed just two hits over seven innings and was charged with only one earned run.  She struck out nine McDaniel batters and walked none.

Tabitha Poole, Guilford, Freshman
Poole notched her first college win with a complete-game nine-hitter versus Shenandoah... yielded one earned run and struck out three... also went four-for-eight at the plate on the week.

Katie Bruce, Lynchburg, Junior
Bruce threw 14.2 innings last week in three games, allowing just 11 hits, three walks and one earned run with 14 strikeouts. She had a 0.61 ERA and also hit .267 at the plate with six runs scored, two RBI, a homer and three walks while batting leadoff all four games.

Brittaney Brown, Virginia Wesleyan, Senior
Brown improved to 7-0 with wins over Spalding University of Kentucky and Baruch College of New York.  She pitched complete games in both and struck out 17 batters, including a season high 10 against Baruch. She tossed a one-hitter against Baruch and walked only one batter in the two games. Her 17 strikeouts improved her career total to 406, moving her closer to VWC's all-time strikeout record of 425 set by Becky Sowell (2003-06). Brown currently owns a 1.22 ERA.
