LaHaye Tabbed for Midcoast Sports Hall
ASHLAND, Va. --- Randolph-Macon head women's
basketball coach, Carroll LaHaye, will be inducted into the
Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame, announced the organization on
Thursday.
The Midcoast Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding athletes from all
eras of sports history in Midcoast, Maine. Inductees are chosen for
their achievements and contributions to athletics whether it be as
an athlete, coach or contributor.
LaHaye, a 1973 graduate of Medomak Valley High in Waldoboro,
Maine, is among the most successful Division III Women's Basketball
coaches of all time.
She attended the University of Maine at Machias, where her
basketball number was retired. In 1982, LaHaye became the head
coach at R-MC, where she has won 471 games through 28 seasons,
which ranks 15th all-time in the NCAA Division III women's
basketball.
LaHaye's team has had 18 straight winning seasons, seven Old
Dominion Athletic Conference regular-season titles and eight NCAA
Division III tournament appearances. LaHaye's Yellow Jackets have
been to the Sweet 16 four times, the Elite 8 twice and the NCAA
National Championship Game once (2005).
LaHaye and four other new members of the Hall of Fame with be
honored during the 4th annual induction ceremony and banquet on
Saturday Night, October 16th at the Rockland Elks Lodge in
Rockland, Maine.
