NCAA Interactive Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. ---
Guilford College will be the lone ODAC representative in the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.  The Quakers will head to Danville, Ky. for their first round matchup with the Colonels from Centre College.  Also in the four-team pod is Washington University-St. Louis and Ferrum College.  Play starts on Friday.

Forty-three conferences have been awarded automatic qualification for the 2012 championship. One team was selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 20 berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

The Quakers (22-6) are part of the Pool A contingent after capturing the ODAC’s automatic qualification by winning the league’s tournament for the third time in school history with a 57-40 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College this past weekend in Salem, Va. Guilford will square off with host Centre (22-4).  The Colonels captured their fifth all-time SCAC title with a 60-48 win over Millsaps.  Ferrum (23-5), winners of the USA South Conference championship, will take on Washington St. Louis (20-5).  The Bears are part of Pool C after finishing second in the UAA.  This marks the 23rd-straight NCAA appearance for Washington St. Louis.

Guilford will make its third appearance on the national stage, with its last national showing in 2002.  The Quakers hold a 2-2 (.500) record in NCAA Division III Women's Basketball tournament games.

First round action begins on March 2 with all second round games slated for March 3.  For more information, visit the websites of any of the participating schools, or go to the NCAA's home on the Internet at www.ncaa.com.
