Lynchburg earned its first ever NCAA Tournament victory after defeating Catholic, 69-64, to advance to the Second Round.

Game Breakdown
- Friday evening's contest was a back and forth battle as the game featured eight lead changes and six ties
- Catholic tied the game at 64 with just 1:10 left but the Hornets held strong, ending the game on a 5-0 run to hold on for the win. Senior Charmaine Hairston buried her third three-pointer of the game and senior Sarah Coronel converted a pair from the stripe to account for those points.
- Hairston led the Hornets with 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a game-high five steals.
- Coronel registered seven points and a team-best nine boards.
- A balanced scoring attack included junior Caroline Naumann who had 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
- Sophomore Molly Shephard completed a trio of LC starters in double figures with 15 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks while junior Brittany Afolabi-Brown was a spark off the Hornet bench as she recorded six points and seven rebounds.
- Dominating in the paint was the difference for Lynchburg as they held held a 34-24 point advantage over Catholic.

Beyond the Stat Sheet
Following this evening's victory over Catholic, the Hornets advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest point in the NCAA Tournament any LC women's basketball team has reached in program history. The Hornets are now 1-1 in tournament games with both appearances occurring the past two years.
