W&L Enters NCAA Tournament First Round

Generals Headed to Mary Washington on Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Washington and Lee University, fresh off a 20-5 win over Roanoke College in the ODAC title game, learned its position in the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday evening.  The Generals, ranked 15th in the latest IWLCA (www.iwlca.org) poll, will meet #11 University of Mary Washington in the first round.

Play in the tournament begins on Wednesday, May 9, with 30 of the 31 teams in the field in action.  Salisbury University, the top-ranked team in the nation, earned the lone bye into the second round.

W&L and UMW will meet at 3:00 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va., on Wednesday.  This will be the second meeting between Washington and Lee (15-4) and Mary Washington (13-4) this season.  The Generals will be looking to avenge a 13-5 loss to the Eagles in late March.
