Sarah Almond, Randolph-Macon, Senior

Almond, a senior from Estes Park, Colo., finished first in the 50-yard (25.47), 100-yard (54.82) and 200-yard freestyle (2:01.44) events in a dual meat victory over Sweet Briar College (141-108). The 2011 ODAC Swimmer of the Year also teamed with Elizabeth Buckley, Kelsey Bagley-Hall, and Elizabeth Plowman and swam the anchor leg to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.48.

Swimming Honor Roll

Michelle Caron, Bridgewater, Sophomore
Caron won two individual events and aided the Eagles to an additional relay victory in a dual meet win over Notre Dame of Maryland. The Palmyra, Va. native swam the lead leg of the 160 yard medley relay (1:38.31), which posted a close victory over the Gators, before topping the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:46.44) by more than a minute. Caron rounded out the meet with a split victory in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.85) after finishing in a virtual tie.

Kendra Medina, Guilford, Sophomore
Medina made her season debut last week and recorded two first-place and two second-place finishes in Guilford’s 1-2 week… won the 100 backstroke in 1:15.68 in the Quakers meet at Ferrum… also swam on the winning 200 medley relay squad (2:21.51)… took second in the 200 freestyle against Greensboro and Emory & Henry in 2:30.34… was runner up in the 50 backstroke in 35.04… each of the aforementioned individual times represent team season bests.

Dana Fredericks, Washington and Lee, Senior
Fredericks finished in the top-two of all three events she competed in this weekend, including two wins, as the Generals defeated both Marymount, 150-108, and Catholic, 158-100.  She won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.17) and placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.15).  She also helped the Generals to a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:55.14).
