Hollins Names Brian Kastner as Women's Tennis Coach
Joins HU from McDaniel
ROANOKE, Va. --- Athletic Director David
Zinn is pleased to announce the hiring of Brian Kastner as the new
head tennis coach at Hollins University. Kastner comes to the
Roanoke, VA campus after serving as the head tennis coach at
McDaniel College since 2010. He will take over the day to day
operations of the tennis program on November 1st.
“We are very excited that Coach Kastner has accepted the
Hollins tennis position.” Zinn continued, “I
believe he will continue to maintain the excellent standard that
the tennis team as set over the past several years and we are
thrilled to have Brian join our Hollins family.”
A 2007 graduate of McDaniel College, Kastner took over the head
coaching duties at his alma mater after serving as an assistant
from 2007-2010. During his tenure at the western Maryland
campus, Kastner led the men’s program to their highest win
total in 20 years while serving as the head coach for both the
men’s and women’s programs.
The Frederick, MD native was raised on the west coast before
returning to Maryland to compete for the Green Terror. During
his four years at McDaniel, three at #1 singles, Kastner
accumulated the most individual wins since 1980. The Magna
Cum Laude graduate also served as team captain and was named
Academic All Centennial Conference three times.
In addition to coaching tennis at McDaniel, Kastner attended the
University of Baltimore School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in
2010.
