The Washington and Lee women's tennis team was defeated by No. 5 Emory, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon in NCAA Tournament third round action. W&L completes its season with a 20-6 overall record. Lauren Lukas and Sonja Meighan will play in the singles tournament May 24-26.

The seventh-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team won its opener in the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament, defeating Ohio Northern in the second round by a score of 5-0 on Saturday at Emory University. Washington and Lee advances to Sunday's third round where it will square off against fifth-ranked Emory at 12:00 pm.

The NCAA announced the bracket for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Team Tournament on Monday afternoon. Washington and Lee University received one of 15 byes into the second round as the Generals will make the trip to Atlanta and Emory University for regional play next weekend. Both teams are ranked in the top-10 in the country.

The Generals' Eric Ishida was tabbed as the Coach of the Year, and BC's Katy Bergey was selected the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete by the league's sports information directors. Sweet Briar was honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award

The Generals clinched the match by winning all three doubles matches and their matchups at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
