Carter Named AVCA Player of the Week

Junior Leads Randolph-Macon to 4-0 Start

LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Mallory Carter, a junior outside hitter for Randolph-Macon College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.  She was also tabbed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week.

In her first two matches of the season, Carter recorded a double-double against Marymount and NC Wesleyan where she totaled 24 kills and 22 digs.

Carter came just one dig short of recording double-doubles in the following two matches against St. Mary's (MD) and Franklin & Marshall, but nailed a combined 30 kills in the victories.

Consistency was key, amassing no fewer than 11 kills in a match and never digging out fewer than nine balls. For the week, the Virginia native averaged 4.15 kills and 3.08 digs per set while hitting .358.

This is the first time an athlete from Randolph-Macon has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award.

Randolph-Macon is 4-0 on the season and returns to action on Friday, when it takes on No.  6 Juniata at 8:00 p.m. in the first day of the Juniata ASICS Invitational.
