EMU Cross Country/Track Tabs New Coach
Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Jason Lewkowicz as its cross country and track & field coach. Lewkowicz will finish out the 2010-11 athletic year at Hannibal-LaGrange University, where he holds the same position, before moving to Harrisonburg this summer to take over the reins of the Royals' program. Lewkowicz replaces Matt Dougherty.

Dr. Toms Inducted in USTFCCCA Hall
Lynchburg's Dr. Jack Toms was one of six individuals to be inducted into the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame. Toms joined Cleve Abbott of Tuskegee, Doug Watts of Edinboro, Bert Lyle of Texas Woman’s University, Jeanette Bolden of UCLA and Chick Hislop of Weber State in the Class of 2010. Very few non-Division I coaches have been inducted in the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame.

Saluting the Fall Scholar-Athletes
Seven student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2010 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.

Whitson, LC Highlight ODAC at Regionals
Several ODAC athletes are on their way to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships following a solid showing at the South/Southeast Regional at Rhodes College. The Lynchburg men qualified as a team, while VWC's Sean Whitson (pictured) won the regional race. He is one of seven ODAC individuals headed to nationals.

Cross Country Championships Review
The first two of seven ODAC fall titles have been handed out following the 2010 ODAC Cross Country Championships. Lynchburg won the men's crown while W&L took home the women's championship. Individually, GC's Derick Kosgei and LC's Jennie Pernisi earned titles by topping their respective fields. For Pernisi, 2010 marks her second straight ODAC win.

LC, W&L Capture Cross Country Titles
Lynchburg College and Washington and Lee University split the 2010 ODAC Cross Country Championship races on Saturday at the Presbyterian Home in Lynchburg, Va. The Hornets' came out on top in the men's 8K race, while the Generals' earned #1 billing through the women's 6K race.

ODAC X-Country Preview, LC Spotlight
LC cross country head coaches, Jesse Baumann (women) and Doug Thomasey (men), lend their insights into both of their programs and the rest of the ODAC as the ODAC Cross Country Championships draw near. The Hornets will compete for the top spot in each race, but the competition in the ODAC will undoubtedly be stiff, as explained by the coaches.

Hornets Fifth in USTFCCCA Reg. Rankings
The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced its men’s weekly regional rankings and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference was represented well in the South/Southeast Region. LC sits fifth, while GC ranks eighth.

Generals Third in USTFCCCA Reg. Rankings
The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced its women’s weekly regional rankings and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference was represented well in the South/Southeast Region. W&L earned a third place ranking, while LC notched an eighth-place nod and BC rounded out the poll in 10th place.

LC Track Dedicated to Dr. Jack Toms
Homecoming arrived at Lynchburg College the weekend of Oct. 8-10, and as one would expect, events were aplenty. One such occasion recognized former Lynchburg cross country and track & field mentor and current Hornets' Director of Athletics, Dr. Jack Toms, in which the track was named in his honor.

ODAC Players of the Week: Sept. 27
ODAC standings began to take shape as the fall season played through the fourth week of action. LC field hockey scored a major non-conference win with a 2-1 triumph over nationally top-ranked Messiah. Lindsay Leonard tallied both goals. EMU's Richy Bikko won his second cross country race at the Maroon Invitational, earning his second weekly honor.

Golf joined the fall sports roundup for the first time as ODAC competition kicked into action throughout the league. Performance continues to remain on-high, including a 12-point showing in field hockey from R-MC's Mary McCarthy, a second straight in cross country for W&L's Lauren Schultz, and more from each of the ODAC's fall sports.

ODAC Players of the Week: Week 2
The second week of ODAC action saw several standout individual and team performances across all sports. Randolph-Macon volleyball moved to 8-0 with five wins over the past week. Roanoke men's soccer has jumped out of the gates early with the Maroons standing at 5-1. Washington and Lee cross country produced a pair of individual race winners. Learn more inside.

Lynchburg Tops Men's Cross Country Poll
Lynchburg earned the maximum 100 points in the ODAC Mens Cross Country Preseason Poll as the Hornets received each of 10 first place votes from the leagues coaches. Virginia Wesleyan its second with 81 points, and Washington and Lee chimes in just three tallies lower in third position with 78 poll points. Bridgewater sits fourth with 73 points.

Women's Cross Country Tabs Lynchburg
Lynchburg College received seven first place nods towards 78 total points in the 2010 ODAC Womens Cross Country Preseason Poll. Washington and Lee University grabbed one first place vote on its way to 70 total points, while Roanoke College followed closely with one first place tick and 66 total poll points.

Thomasey to Head LC Track, Cross Country
Lynchburg new director of cross country and track and field is anything but a new face to the program. Doug Thomasey '05 was named Wednesday to replace legendary mentor Dr. Jack Toms and will over-see all six highly successful Hornet programs.
