• EMU Tabs Hepler to Lead Cross Country and Track & Field Programs

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced Bob Hepler as the Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field. Hepler will start in Harrisonburg early this summer, upon completion of his 14th season in a similar role at the University of Texas at Tyler.

    Two-time defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee University was picked as the favorite entering the 2017 season as the Generals received 10 first place votes towards 100 total points to lead the ODAC Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll. Bridgewater College follows close behind with 90 tallies and the remaining top consideration, while Lynchburg College rounds out the top-three in the annual coaches' survey with 81 points.

    Two-time defending champion Washington and Lee University is the clear favorite atop the ODAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll with 120 points and 10 first place votes, but just four tallies separate the next four teams in the annual coaches' survey. Roanoke College slots in second with 95 points, while Eastern Mennonite University chimes in third with 92 markers. Bridgewater College and Lynchburg College both occupy fourth position, each having picked up one first place vote and 91 total points.

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced the resignation of Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Isaac Bryan, effective August 18. With cross country season starting later this month, recent standout Hannah Chappell-Dick has been hired as the interim cross country coach, starting August 9. Director of Athletics Dave King will serve as the director of cross country and track & field until a replacement is hired.

W&L accumulated just 38 points in the women's competition after six kilometers on the custom course situated on the back nine at the Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Va. The Generals' racked up even fewer place points from the men's eight-kilometer race with just 32 markers showing in the team standings.
