  • Owens Tabbed to Lead Guilford Track & Field and Cross Country

    Guilford College Athletics Director Sue Bower appointed Marty Owens as the Quakers’ first director of cross country and track and field Thursday. Owens comes to Guilford after completing 15 years as the head cross country and head track and field coach at Susquehanna University.

  • Washington and Lee Tops ODAC Women's Cross Country Poll
    August 16, 2018
    The top-six places in the ODAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll shuffled positions this season, except for the top spot. Three-time defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee University garnered 10 first place votes for the second straight year on the way to 141 total points. The University of Lynchburg moved up a few rungs to second position with 128 markers including a pair of first place votes. Bridgewater College sits third with 111 tallies, while Shenandoah University climbs to fourth with 108 points and the remaining top nod.
  • Washington and Lee Headlines ODAC Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll

    The top of the ODAC Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll looks much the same as last year with three-time defending champion Washington and Lee University heading the list produced annually by the league's head coaches. The Generals collected 11 first place votes on the way to a chart-topping 121 points. Bridgewater College and the University of Lynchburg also held suit from a season ago in second and third positions, respectively. The Eagles picked up 110 tallies including the remaining top nod, while the Hornets garnered 100 total points.

    Sweet Briar College has hired Jacob Smith, most recently an assistant cross country/track and field coach at Coe College, as its head cross country and strength and conditioning coach. Prior to his time at Coe, Smith was the assistant cross country/track and field coach at Christopher Newport University.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2017-18 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the conference's 24 sponsored sports. The squads are comprised of a student-athlete selected by the coaching staffs of each team competing under the conference banner with all sports and schools fully represented.

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced Bob Hepler as the Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field. Hepler will start in Harrisonburg early this summer, upon completion of his 14th season in a similar role at the University of Texas at Tyler.

    Bridgewater College junior Jamie Hiegel headlined a set of ODAC runners for the third straight race on Saturday afternoon in Elsah, Ill., as he led a group of five runners from conference member institutions at the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.

    Virginia Wesleyan University senior Marissa Coombs and Bridgewater College junior Jamie Hiegel highlight the final conference awards for cross country this season as the ODAC's head coaches completed the 2017 All-ODAC awards process. Coombs and Hiegel were named the ODAC Women's and Men's Runners of the Year, respectively.

Bridgewater College follows close behind with 90 tallies and the remaining top consideration, while Lynchburg College rounds out the top-three in the annual coaches' survey with 81 points.

    Two-time defending champion Washington and Lee University is the clear favorite atop the ODAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll with 120 points and 10 first place votes, but just four tallies separate the next four teams in the annual coaches' survey. Roanoke College slots in second with 95 points, while Eastern Mennonite University chimes in third with 92 markers. Bridgewater College and Lynchburg College both occupy fourth position, each having picked up one first place vote and 91 total points.
  • EMU Cross Country Transitions with Chappell-Dick at the Helm

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced the resignation of Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Isaac Bryan, effective August 18. With cross country season starting later this month, recent standout Hannah Chappell-Dick has been hired as the interim cross country coach, starting August 9. Director of Athletics Dave King will serve as the director of cross country and track & field until a replacement is hired.

"Doc" Jopson Scholar-Athlete Awards, as selected by the ODAC Board of Directors.
