Quakers Lead by Four After First Round

Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon Four Back, Wyndorf Top Individual

CAPE CHARLES, Va. --- Guilford College posted a 15-over-par team score of 303 to top the leaderboard following the first round of play at the 2011 ODAC Golf Championships.  The Quakers, ranked No. 1 in the country, lead Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon by four strokes after both teams fired rounds of 307.  R-MC's Max Wyndorf tops the individual standings after an opening round 72 (even).

Each of Guilford's five competitors placed inside the top 13 with none shooting higher than 78.  Dusty Roberts (2nd) and Noah Ratner (4th) lead the way after posting rounds of 74 and 75, respectively.  J.T. Thomas also recorded a top-ten score with a four-over 76.

Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon added five more first day top-ten scorers.  The Tigers' Michael Dowd and Ronnie Fultz each shot 75, tied for fourth with Ratner and Lynchburg College's Conrad Anguera.  H-SC's George Whiting joined Thomas in eighth position with a 76.  R-MC's Wyndorf was the only golfer at par or better following the first 18 holes.  Fellow Yellow Jacket Zach Wehrman sits tied for 10th after a five-over 77.

Second round action is set to begin 11:00 a.m.  Tee times continue throughout the morning and early afternoon thru 1:25 p.m.
