W&L Defeats LC in ODAC Quarters
LEXINGTON, Va. --- The fifth-ranked
Washington and Lee women's tennis team downed Lynchburg, 5-0, in
ODAC Tournament Quarterfinal play on Saturday afternoon at the
W&L outdoor tennis courts. The Generals will face Roanoke
College on Saturday, April 28 in a semifinal contest at
Randolph-Macon College.
The Generals started the day with a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles
action, with each pair posting an 8-0 score against their
respective Lynchburg opponents.
First-years Meghan Buell and Allison
Hupalo both recorded a win in singles action, allowing W&L
to take the victory and advance to the ODAC Tournament Semifinals
next weekend. At No. 5 singles, Buell defeated Hailey Bettencourt,
6-0, 6-0, and Hupalo took down Ari Peikin, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6
singles position.
The Generals will return to the court on Saturday when they face
Roanoke in the ODAC Tournament Semifinals, hosted by
Randolph-Macon.
