LC Claims ODAC Indoor Titles
TALLMAN MEN’S TOP ATHLETE, GRAVES AND MILLS SPLIT WOMEN’S TOP ATHLETE
LYNCHBURG, Va. ---
Lynchburg College claimed both the men’s and women’s
crown on Friday evening in the 2011 ODAC Indoor Track and Field
Championships. The Hornets earned 163 total points for the
men’s title and the women accumulated 161 total points for
the championship.
On the men’s side, Washington and Lee University swept three
of the four major awards. WLU’s Alexander Tallman was
named the ODAC Athlete of the Meet, as well as the Rookie of the
Year. David Doobin garnered the 2011 ODAC/Farm Bureau
Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and LC mentor Doug
Thomasey earned the ODAC Coach of the Year honor.
For the women, Lynchburg collected two major awards. Ashley
Allen was tabbed the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of
the Year, while LC Head Coach Doug Thomasey was named the ODAC
Coach of the Year. Bridgewater College’s Olivia Mills
and Roanoke College’s Carmen Graves split the Athlete of the
Meet award. Virginia Wesleyan College’s Courtney Mebane
was named the Rookie of the Year.
