Washington and Lee’s Christine Gladysz Named ODAC Volleyball Player-of-the-Year

SALEM, VA – Washington and Lee junior setter Christine Gladysz was named the 2004 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Volleyball Player-of-the-Year as the league announced its all-conference teams on Friday. Gladysz was one of three Generals to garner first-team honors.

A native of Palm Harbor, Fla., Gladysz has dished out a league best 1, 161 (12.2 apg) assists on the season. She also has 49 service aces and 320 digs. After breaking the school and ODAC record for assists in a season (1,642) during 2003, Gladysz became the first W&L volleyball player to earn All-American status when she was named to the third-team. For her career, Gladysz has 3, 644 assists.

Randolph-Macon setter Elizabeth Kite was given ODAC Rookie-of-the-Year honors. Kite is third in the ODAC with 1, 235 assist (10.6 apg). She also had 29 service aces and 299 digs.

After leading his Generals to a perfect 11-0 ODAC record and 24-7 overall mark, Washington and Lee’s Bryan Snyder was recognized as the 2004 ODAC Coach-of-the-Year. The fifth-year head coach has led W&L to three consecutive league championships.

Washington and Lee’s Emily Wolfing was named the 2004 ODAC Volleyball Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year by the league’s sports information directors. A senior from Mt. Airy, Md., Wolfing wins the award for the second consecutive year. The outside hitter leads the Generals with 385 kills (4.1 kpg) and achieved a 3.76 in the class room while majoring in Math and Physics.
