W&L, Virginia Wesleyan Women’s Soccer Teams Ranked in Nation
Lynchburg Ranked Regionally

 

 

Salem – The Washington and Lee and Virginia Wesleyan women’s soccer teams are both ranked in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Poll.  The Generals are ranked #12 while the Marlins are tabbed at #24.  W&L (10-0-1) is also ranked second in the South Region while VWC (12-1-1) occupies the number-four spot in the region.  Lynchburg (9-3-2) is ranked #5 in the region.

 

            Washington and Lee is led by freshman Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) who has 26 points on 11 goals and four assists.    Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, D.C./Potomac) is second on the team with six goals and seven assists for 19 points.  Junior Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) has tallied 582 minutes in net, giving up just two goals and making nine saves for an .818 saves percentage.

 

The Marlins are led by senior Katie Barg (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) who has 24 points on nine goals and six assists.  Sharon Hay (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) is second on the team with 14 points on five goals and four assists.  Laura Wiederwax (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) has played 1110 minutes in goal, giving up just seven goals and making 42 saves for an .857 saves percentage.
