Virginia Wesleyan, W&L Both Ranked Nationally in Women’s Soccer

Lynchburg Ranked Regionally

 

 

Salem, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan College is ranked 13th in the current National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll.  Washington and Lee was also ranked #18 in the poll.  Virginia Wesleyan (14-1-1) and W&L (11-1-1) also ranked regionally in the number two and three positions, respectively.  Lynchburg College (12-3-2) followed close behind filling in the number four regional ranking.

 

            The Marlins are led by Katie Barg (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) who has posted 24 points, including nine goals and six assists.  Coming in second for Virginia Wesleyan is Sharon Hay (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) who has contributed six goals and four assists.  Laura Wiederwax (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) has allowed just seven goals this season.  In her 1200 minutes of play, she has recorded 47 saves and has a saves percentage of .870.

           

            Washington and Lee is led by freshman Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) who has scored 11 goals and given out four assists.  Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, DC/Potomac) comes in second for the Generals tallying six goals and eight assists for 20 points.  Goalkeeper Emily Barker (Clifton, Va./Mount Vernon) has spent 761 minutes in goal this season.  She has allowed four goals and made 14 saves for a .778 saves percentage.
