Roanoke and Lynchburg Top Men’s and Women’s ODAC Cross Country Polls

– After capturing the conference
championship in 2003,
Roanoke
College
has been picked to repeat as league champion in the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference men’s cross-country poll, while
Lynchburg
College
was selected to repeat on the women’s side.
The Maroons received five of a possible nine first-place votes and totaled 75
points overall. Men’s
ODAC Coach-of-the-Year Dr.
Finn Pincus returns First-Team All-ODAC member Zack Tembi who recorded a
seventh-place finish at the conference championships last season.
Will Justice, who earned second-team honors in 2003 returns for RC as
well.
The
Lynchburg
men’s team earned two first-place votes and 72 points for second-place in the
poll.
Washington
and Lee (69 points/two first-place votes),
Bridgewater
College
(52 points), Eastern Mennonite (46 points), Hampden-Sydney (30 points),
Virginia Wesleyan (27 points), Emory and Henry (22 points) and
Guilford
(15 points) rounded out the poll.
On the women’s side, LC earned seven of a possible nine first-place votes and
81 points overall. Last season, the
Hornets took the top three spots at the conference championship to capture the
program’s fifth title.
Women’s
Coach-of-the-Year Dr.
Jack Toms returns ODAC Runner-of-the-Year Amanda Archibald who took the top
spot in last season’s conference championship race.
Archibald will be joined by fellow First-Team All-ODAC selections Amanda
Diver and Crystal Bergen who finished second and third respectively at the
league championships last season.
Roanoke
placed second with two first-place votes and
74 total points. Washington and Lee took the third slot in the poll with 63
points. Eastern Mennonite (50
points),
Bridgewater
(39 points), Virginia Wesleyan (33 points), Emory and Henry (50 points),
Hollins
University
(23 points) and
Guilford
(15 points) filled out the rest of the poll.
