AT SALEM CIVIC CENTER, SALEM MEMORIAL BASEBALL STADIUM
Salem,
Va. -- Some
of the nation’s most successful Division III collegiate football coaches and
student athletes will be on hand when the National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) Youth Education Through Sports (YES) Programs conducts a
youth football clinic on Saturday, December 20, at the Salem Memorial Baseball
Stadium. The clinic will be held from
7:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Boys
and girls ages 10 to 18 are eligible to participate at no cost to them. Registration is on a first come, first
served basis. Applications can be
picked up at the Salem Civic Center.
Participation
in this clinic will allow the youth in this community to experience the
excitement of the NCAA Division III Football Championship first-hand. Participants will have the unique
opportunity to receive football instruction from NCAA Division III coaches and
student-athletes, and connect with area high school and youth coaches. In addition, experts in conditioning and
life skills will run participants through drills to improve fitness on and off
the field. This community connection
serves as the NCAA’s premier outreach to youth from all around the country.
Each
participant will receive a YES T-shirt and printed materials on football skill
development and each enrolled YES clinic participant will receive one general
admission ticket to attend the NCAA Division III Football Championship on
Saturday, December 20. This marks the 11th year that the City of
Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference have partnered to bring this
wonderful event to the Roanoke Valley. This year’s game is scheduled to be
broadcast on ESPN2 at 11am.
